Diagnostic spirometry for adults with severe mental illness: addressing inequitable gaps in respiratory diagnosis and treatment in mental health inpatient settings at SLaM.

Standard care for detection and referral to integrated respiratory care from inpatient services hasn’t changed for years. However, we don’t have a sense of what activity has occurred on the inpatient wards, because the referral process isn’t standardised in any sort of data entry on ePJS. We’re hoping that by interrogating the CRIS data set we can extract something from historical entries to provide a baseline of activity…once we have that, we hope to be able to compare it against the activity that will occur as part of our pilot/initiative over the next 12 months.
