Early Trajectories Towards Psychosis: Examining Prior Psychiatric Diagnoses in Children and Young People
Young people who go on to develop a psychotic disorder are often first seen by mental health services for other, non-psychotic difficulties, and the psychosis diagnosis itself frequently arrives only after a considerable delay. This project will describe which psychiatric diagnoses commonly precede the first recorded diagnosis of psychosis in children and adolescents, and how long before it they appear, to inform earlier clinical recognition and prevention strategies.
