Evaluation of Amygdala Neural Responses as a Putative Distinctive Biomarker for Bipolar Disorder vs. Unipolar Depression (BUD study) | C4C

  • Applicant: Toby Wise
  • Project ID: 13-055

The principle aim of the study is to study amygdala responses to emotional stimuli in the hope of identifying biomarkers which can distinguish bipolar and unipolar depression. Furthermore, we hope to extend these findings by looking at differences in networks involved in emotional processing between unipolar depression and bipolar disorder to understand how emotional processing in the brain relates to these two disorders. Together, this research will further our understanding the neurobiology of these conditions and potentially aid the development of clinically useful diagnostic tests.
