Experimental fMRI study on the comparison of the brain function effects of a single dose of Guanfacine and Lisdexamfetamine relative to placebo in children and adolescents with ADHD. | C4C
The AGUALIS project is a randomized, placebo-controlled and double-blind trial testing single doses of 2 drugs for children and adolescents with ADHD. The recent approved ADHD drugs Guanfacine (Inutiv) and Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvance) have shown to be more effective than other usually prescribed drugs like Methylphenidate (Ritalin) or Atomoxetine (Strattera), however only little is known about how they work in the brain of children and adolescents with ADHD and this is why we’ve designed this study. After one eligibility appointment, we will, if eligible, use a fMRI brain scan and test the effects, in random order, of one single dose of Guanfacine (Inutiv), Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvance) and placebo on the brain function of children and adolescents with ADHD. We will also measure the drug effects on cognitive performance. For this purpose, ADHD children will be scanned and tested in cognitive performance under either of the 3 single dose drug conditions, one week apart, in 3 weekly visits.
