HIV and mental illness

Previous research shows that the prevalence of HIV in people with mental illness is higher than the general population. This project will use the CRIS HIV NLP application (ascertaining mentions of HIV status in text fields) and linked data from Public Health England on HIV status to determine if mental health services are aware of the HIV status of their patients, and if there are inequalities in known HIV status between different groups.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
