Identifying children with undiagnosed oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder for the Personalised Programmes for Children Study | C4C

  • Applicant: Rani Samuel
  • Project ID: 17-131

Oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder are believed to be readily treatable in children if parenting interventions are started early. The Personalised Programmes for Children Study is a multi-site, NIHR funded trial led by the Tavistock and Portman Clinic, in partnership with the University of Reading and National Academy for Parenting Research, Institute of Psychiatry, KCL. The study plans to examine which factors are associated with engagement, attendance and outcomes in conduct disorder. It also plans to conduct a randomized control trial testing a personalized individual or group parent programme. We plan to use to CRIS system to identify patients with possible undiagnosed oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder or other behavioural problems. We will refer these children to the Pre-School Learning Alliance where they can receive standard parenting interventions and may be recruited by the Personalised Programmes for Children Study.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
