Identifying service users with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) in CRIS using Natural Language Processing (NLP) method

  • Applicant: Amita Jassi
  • Project ID: 26-062

Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is a common but under-researched condition, and SLaM host the only two specialist clinics (adult and young person teams) for BDD in the UK. There is not a diagnostic code for BDD currently in CRIS, so this study will develop a natural language processing tool to identify BDD cases which will open up extensive opportunity for research for this condition.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
