Impact of lockdown on alcohol and illicit drug use during the COVID-19 pandemic
Older people with mental disorders who have accompanying drug and alcohol use are known to experience poorer health and are less independent in their everyday activities. This is even more likely in people under the care of mental health services. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the lives of older people, with greater restriction on their everyday activities and wellbeing. This study will examine patterns of drug and alcohol use in the 4 months before and after lockdown in the UK for patients under SLaM older adult services.
