Incidence, Risk Factors, Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Clozapine-Associated Cardiomyopathy: A Retrospective Cohort Study

While clozapine-induced myocarditis has been extensively studied and monitoring recommendations exist in several countries, clozapine-associated cardiomyopathy remains poorly understood. The condition is thought to be rare but potentially life-threatening, often presenting months or years after treatment initiation. Published estimates of incidence vary significantly owing to differences in case definitions, surveillance methods, and study populations. Furthermore, little is known regarding the impact of clozapine dose and treatment duration and the long-term cardiac outcomes following diagnosis.
We aim to investigate the incidence, risk factors, clinical characteristics and outcomes of cardiomyopathy in patients receiving clozapine.
