Investigating early morning wakening and diurnal variation of mood as predictors of depression outcome

  • Applicant: Rob Stewart

Early morning wakening and diurnal variation of mood (feeling worse in the morning) are generally considered as markers of more severe depression, but we can’t yet capture these symptoms in routine CRIS research. This project will develop natural language processing algorithms to ascertain these symptoms and will investigate them as predictors of outcomes in people with SLaM-treated depressive disorders.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
