Investigation of association between levels of anxiety symptoms and health outcomes including treatment resistance in people with depression.
Roughly 85% of people with depression experienced symptoms of anxiety, while 90% of individuals with anxiety experienced depressive symptoms. People with depression often experience co-occurring anxiety symptoms, which may worsen health outcomes, such as an increase in contacts with mental health hospitals, and contribute to treatment resistance. However, this relationship is not fully understood. This project will investigate how levels of anxiety symptoms in individuals with depression relate to their health outcomes and degree of treatment resistance, measured through change in different antidepressants people received within 3 years after 1st antidepressant medication.
