MINocycline in DEPression -MINDEP | C4C

  • Applicant: Caitlin Hastings
  • Project ID: 15-118

Scientists have found that the immune system, which is the system dedicated to fight infections in our body, is in a state of “hyperactivity” in patients with depression (also called “inflammation”), as if they were fighting an infection, even though they do not have an ongoing infection. The main aim of the project is to investigate the association between changes in inflammation and the improvement of depression, following treatment with minocycline (alongside the regular antidepressant) in treatment resistant depressed patients selected for increased inflammation levels.
