Mortality monitoring in mental healthcare during and after the COVID-19 pandemic

Increased mortality was observed in SLaM service users during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic but hasn’t been evaluated since early 2021. There are well-publicised concerns about continued excess mortality accompanying recent and current NHS pressures and this study will investigate the extent to which this has been observed in SLaM service users.

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
