ADHD is a highly prevalent, often persistent, neurodevelopmental disorder associated with functional impairments. Therefore, it is important to understand more about the associated long-term outcomes in individuals with ADHD. Recently our research group has investigated the phenomenon of mind wandering (MW) in ADHD; we found that excessive, uncontrolled MW appears to be a common co-occurring feature of adult ADHD with specific implications for impairment. MW has also been linked with educational problems. However, MW may have functional benefit in some circumstances; an association between both ADHD and MW with creativity is described in the literature. We will conduct a large-scale online survey to collect information from a large number of individuals in the general population, as well as a clinical population of adults diagnosed with ADHD, to investigate the educational, occupational, and creative outcomes of individuals with ADHD, as well as the role MW my play in the disorder.
