Predicting diabetes in people with psychosis.”

The rate of type two diabetes in people suffering from various types of psychotic disorder is very high and, for example, estimated at around 20% in South East London population. This phenomenon has long been observed with risk factors ranging from antipsychotic medication to shared genetic predisposition and lifestyle choices. The project aims to develop predictive tool based on information available in electronic health records which would identify at-risk patients and allow timely prevention and management of their diabetes risk. Importantly this tool will be developed specifically for people with psychosis and consider dependencies and risk factors seen in this group by using information of the CRIS database.
