Predicting psychiatric A&E admissions using combined HES and SLaM databases

  • Applicant: Thilina Jayatilleke
  • Project ID: 19-075

Reduced resources and increasing demand for A&E leads to poor patient experiences and outcomes. The ability to predict the likelihood of admission of psychiatric patients as soon as they present to the front desk at A&E, before they are clinically assessed, allows efficient use of resources for patients to be seen promptly by the right healthcare professional to either prevent that admission or to streamline the process.
