Prevalence and staff awareness of autism within a community forensic population: a service evaluation

There is evidence to suggest that individuals with autism spectrum disorder (AD) are likely to be overrepresented in most custodial and secure psychiatric settings when compared to the prevalence of ASD in the general population. However, less is known about the prevalence of autism in community forensic populations. This project will examine the prevalence rates of autism in a community forensic sample, as well as the methods used to make a diagnosis. Furthermore, it will explore the existing level of ASD awareness and confidence held by staff working in community forensic teams.
