Risk factors for liver disease in patients treated for substance use
Patients treated for substance misuse, particularly alcohol, and drugs that are injected, are at substantially increased risk of developing liver disease. Although effective preventive treatments exist, there is currently no formal screening and identification programme for patients. This research will involve analysing CRIS data identify factors that increase the risk of liver disease in these patients. This information may then be used in clinical practice to help target treatment to patients who need it.
