The Impact of Early-Onset Psychosis Diagnosed Before Age 18 on Educational Attainment: A Retrospective Cohort Study

  • Applicant: Emilia Loane
  • Project ID: 26-064

This CRIS project forms part of a PhD examining outcomes for children and young people who have been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder before age 18. This study will link anonymised CRIS records with the National Pupil Database to examine how educational attainment changes before, around and after diagnosis. The project will compare young people with psychosis to similar pupils from the same local area who do not have a recorded psychotic disorder diagnosis. It will also look at whether young people with psychosis have more school absences, exclusions, or special educational needs provision. The study will help identify when educational difficulties begin and whether clinical or social factors are linked

The Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) system is a computer system that allows researchers at the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) to carry out research using information from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust clinical records.
