The prevalence, correlates and outcomes of voice hearing in young people attending Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
Verbal auditory hallucinations (otherwise known as hearing voices) are often seen as a symptom of psychosis. However, research in the general population shows voice hearing is common in young people and is associated with a range of mental health conditions. Little is known about the occurrence of voices in young people accessing routine mental health services. Therefore, the aim of this project will be to investigate the prevalence of voice hearing in young people in local Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). It also aims to examine the characteristics and outcomes of young people who experience voice hearing and describe the content of the voice hearing experiences.
