Treatment outcomes of challenging behaviour in individuals with intellectual disabilities

  • Applicant: Andre Strydom
  • Project ID: 20-053

Challenging behaviour in the form of aggression affects a significant number of patients with learning disability (also know as intellectual disability) and also some individuals with autism and has far reaching effects on their quality of life, access to support and accommodation and is also a potential trigger for hospital admission. This project is designed to determine the factors and types of treatment that is associated with better or worse outcomes in order to inform the development of a new personalised intervention that will be tested in a clinical trial.
