Understanding the Psychosocial Drivers of Cannabis Use in Early Adolescents (≤15 years): A Reflexive Thematic Analysis

  • Applicant: Amanda Sarpong
  • Project ID: 26-055

Early cannabis use in young adolescents is linked to later mental health and social difficulties, but little is known about why early adolescents start and continue using it.
This study will use qualitative interviews (around 45 minutes) to explore the experiences of adolescents aged 13–15 who use cannabis regularly (at least once a week) or regularly in the past year, to understand the personal, social and cultural factors that influence their use and how they view its benefits and risks.
