Uptake and Outcomes of Physiotherapy for Chronic Pain in People with and without Severe Mental Illness (SMI).
People who live with severe mental illnesses (SMI), such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, often experience high rates of chronic pain and may not get the same quality of care as others. To investigate this, our study will anonymously link patient records from general practitioners with hospital data to compare how often these patients are referred to and attend physiotherapy for their chronic pain. The results will help us find specific ways to improve physiotherapy services and ensure fair, effective treatment for people living with chronic pain, regardless of their mental health status.
