What is the Prevalence of Child Sexual Exploitation in young people currently open to CAMHS, and what characteristics are associated with child sexual exploitation?
This project aims to better understand how common child sexual exploitation is among young people receiving mental health care, and what factors may increase risk, as there is currently a lack of data. I would like to use anonymised information from mental health records to identify how often exploitation is recorded and explore patterns linked to age, gender, ethnicity, and mental health needs. Child sexual exploitation is often hidden and under‑identified, especially among marginalised groups. This study will help improve understanding of how it is recognised in services and support better identification and care for young people affected in the future.
