Lay Summary :
Growing evidence suggests that air pollution may contribute to the development of mental health problems like depression, but little is known about the role of air pollution exposure in the course of psychiatric disorders during childhood and adolescence. Using a linkage between the CRIS database, detailed air-quality data, and the national pupil database, this project will examine whether air pollution exposure contributes to symptom severity (measured via mental health service-use) and cognition and functioning (measured via educational attainment) in children and adolescents recently diagnosed with a psychiatric or neurodevelopmental disorder.
